Dedicated to the 12th Xhombo Lama Itigilov
Dashi-Dorzho Itigilov, who held the position of Xhombo Lama - leader of Russian Buddhists, entered nirvana and/or died, depending on your point of view, in 1927. In 2002 he was exhumed, and found to be miraculously undecayed. This gallery includes photos from the inauguration of a stupa in his honor in Orangoe and the celebration of the third anniversary of his exhumation, which included a viewing of the body, and a dance and sports festival at Ivolginsky datsan. For more information about Itigilov please see the website of the Itigilov Institute at: http://www.etegelov.com for English and http://www.etegelov.ru for Russian.
